ASESA Invited to HSE Asbestos Summit

The Health & Safety Executive has invited ASESA to attend their Asbestos Research Prioritisation Summit, which will take place on 4th and 5th March in Manchester, immediately prior to the ASESA Spring regional meetings.

This important event, organised by the HSE, will bring together key stakeholders to prioritise critical research areas aimed at ensuring the best decisions to prevent exposure to asbestos from materials remaining in buildings throughout Great Britain. ASESA Chief Executive Graham Warren will be representing ASESA members during the summit,

Graham commented “It’s a real privilege to be able to help shape the future of Asbestos removal & management in Great Britain, alongside some really knowledgeable professionals from across the Asbestos removal industry as well as representatives from the HSE and other important stakeholders”.

With just 329 Licensed removal contractors, resources to tackle the remaining Asbestos in the UK is clearly finite, so HSE are looking to identify how best to approach this, with presumably half an eye on potential target dates for the removal of Asbestos from public buildings, whilst assuring building occupants around the safety of the ongoing management of remaining asbestos.

Graham Warren advised “ASESA is very much looking forward to contributing to the two day event to which we have been invited due to our expertise and the perspective we can bring as a specialist trade association dedicated to the Asbestos removal industry”.

Whilst it is unclear at this time how the results & conclusions of this will be communicated, you can be sure that anything we’re allowed to share will be fully covered during the forthcoming ASESA Spring regionals, which start immediately after this pivotal summit and take place throughout this first month of Spring.
